Fiat - 124 Coupé Eveline Vignale - 1969
Chassis no.: 124A 0500 745
Rear-wheel drive (RWD).
Four-speed manual transmission.
Alfredo Vignale built the body of the 'Eveline' on the basis of the Fiat 124 saloon, leaving the floorpan and the mechanicals unchanged, as well as the front part of the interior in terms of the dashboard and the instruments.
The aim was to create a medium-performance sports car with four comfortable seats.
Special attention was paid to the comfort of the car, which was equipped with four separate armchairs with armrests and central ashtray, electric front windows, rear windows that could be opened by means of a compass, a rear-view mirror with dipped position, three courtesy lights, a glove compartment with key flap, a reversing light and twin headlights.
A two-spoke perforated wooden steering wheel and a wide choice of bodywork and interior colours completed the list of features.
The performance of the "Eveline" mirrored that of the saloon from which it was derived, and the 1197 cc, 60 bhp engine was considerable for the time.
Unveiled at the 1967 Turin Motor Show, around 200 units were produced.
This bespoke car earned Alfredo Vignale the Mercurio d'Oro, an award given to those companies that, in the post-war period, had restored confidence and competitiveness to the Italian manufacturing and economic system.
