Epoca delle Signorie, Toscana, Siena: cofanetto in legno policromo, decorato sul fronte con due aquile a volo abbassatto disposte simmetricamente, che si rivolgono al centro, dove è inciso un gioiello esagonale rosso racchiuso in una montatura di colore giallo.
La scena è inquadrata in una cornice a doppia corda, parzialmente mancante.
I dettagli del piumaggio delle aquile e della montatura sono molto accurati, a dimostrazione della perizia dello scultore.

Le lotte di fazione sono ancora molto sentite e le due aquile illustrano molto bene il ghibellinismo senese, in contrapposizione al guelfismo fiorentino.
