Hans Bayens (1924-2003) - Lady in a Domestic Setting in the Style of Israels
Hans Bayens was a Dutch sculptor, book designer, and painter. He was born in Belgium but was the child of two Dutch parents. After his schooling in Amsterdam, he studied from 1946 to 1949 at the National Higher Institute of Fine Arts (Antwerp). He was a student of Isodore Opsomer. After working in Paris, he moved to Amsterdam in 1952.
Bayens painted in an impressionistic style. He created paintings of, among others, Willem Drees, Wim Kan, and Maurits van Loon. As a sculptor, he made bronzes of Dutch authors such as Mutatuli and Theo Thijssen. He is considered a member of Independent Realism.
