Simone Sedda

Antique Mandolin made in Saxony (now Germany). 
Saxony name was used in period 1914-1924 for making instruments for export. 
Maker as per original label O.H.jr.B.
Beautiful wood with mother of pearl inlays and flower ornaments, braid like ornament around the sound chamber, original bridge, original tuners, frets etc. 

Condition:
Tested and playable, with plated hight-carbon steel and silver-plated copper alloy wound strings (light). Complete set of 8 strings - 4 x 2 (E 0.25mm , A 0.36mm , D 0.63mm , G 0.86mm). 
Sound chamber giving pleasant, smooth resonance. No rattling. 

Used of course, a lot of surface scratches on the back, a little bit of rust on the metal holding bottom of strings, front wood on the sound chamber has few scratches and few splits of wood that look like were filled with some glue in the past, some minor scratches on the neck, one of the tuning knobs (round white element on the screw) is cracked and has been repaired with glue, caution is needed when operating. All tuner knobs have surface level age related cracks (not broken) - care needed when operating. 
Tuning knobs and gears operational, quite stiff. 
It could do with additional love and reparations to the wood - a filler for the splitting, gentle taking off the surface lacquer and recoating to bring it to it's former glory - for someone who wants to restore it. Or can be kept like it is to preserve it's history...
