Rare – 1st Generation - Eames DAX Fiberglass Shell Chair (1949)

An exceptionally rare first-generation Eames DAX fiberglass armchair, 100% original in the highly sought-after “Greige” finish with roped edge, early black, solid ‘X’ base, and original “Domes of Silence” feet.

Key details include:
	
•	Distinct fiberglass texturing with original large shock mounts and rope edge
•	Label underside; Zenith, Herman Miller, in fat chalk "DAX"
•	Rare early production example, all original and in great vintage condition

The chair remains in excellent vintage condition with no cracks. The legs show normal wear. On the top right side of the shell, there is blemish (see photo) consistent with age and originality. Overall, this is an outstanding, authentic first-generation example.

This is not just a chair, but an amazing piece of design history—a true museum-worthy example of the very first generation of Eames fiberglass seating.
