Fils d’un général de la Révolution, lui-même officier, baron, engagé très jeune dans les guerres napoléoniennes. 

Écrites pour ses enfants, pour laisser trace du vécu, des batailles, des épisodes de l’Empire. 

Couvrent la période de la Révolution française, puis surtout des guerres de Napoléon, jusqu’à Waterloo. 

Beaucoup d’anecdotes personnelles : enfance, formation, campagnes, duels, escapades, moments de danger, de souffrance. 

Des descriptions de batailles célèbres : Gênes, Austerlitz, Eylau, la Bérésina, Leipzig, Waterloo… avec le regard d’un officier qui voit à la fois les grandes manœuvres et les détails. 

Style vivant, parfois romanesque, avec un souci de rendre le vécu : peurs, fatigues, les dangers, les camarades, etc.

Written for his children, to leave a trace of the experience, the battles, the episodes of the Empire.

Covered the period of the French Revolution, then especially the wars of Napoleon, up to Waterloo.

Many personal anecdotes: childhood, training, campaigns, duels, escapades, moments of danger, suffering.

Descriptions of famous battles: Genoa, Austerlitz, Eylau, Beresina, Leipzig, Waterloo… with the gaze of an officer who sees both the great maneuvers and the details.
