This is a fabulous antique cooking pot made from hammered bronzed copper that has aged to a fabulous bronze coloured patination with a pearlescent shine. It dates from the early 19th century, and believed to be French as it was found in a French chateau, but research suggests it could be from a Balkan country. The handles are hollow and the base is domed, suggesting it is was made for use on an open wood stove fire. There is a zigzag decoration 5cm from the top. The dovetail joints are visible to the joins. 

It is very heavy, it weighs 3kg. the height is 25cm, and it measures 26cm at the bottom in diameter.
