Houten sculptuur van Maria Immaculata op wolken en cherubijnen – Spaans Koloniaal - 18de / 19de eeuw

Dit krachtig houten sculptuur is een voorstelling van Maria Onbevlekt Ontvangen, met Maria staande op een wolkenbasis omringd door drie cherubijnenkoppen. Deze voorstelling is typerend voor Spaans-koloniale religieuze kunst, sterk beïnvloed door de Spaanse barok. De expressieve uitwerking van Maria en de engelenkopjes getuigt van degelijk snijwerk. Merk ook de elegant geplooide mantel op. 

De achterzijde is vlak afgewerkt, wat wijst op plaatsing tegen een wand of in een nis. De beide armen ontbreken, maar het beeld blijft indrukwekkend en decoratief sterk. Er zijn lichte sporen van verguldsel, bijvoorbeeld op het haar van Maria en de cherubijnen en Maria's ceintuur.

Het sculptuur is 60cm hoog en structureel in goede staat. Het vertoont zichtbare slijtage, barst-vorming en geen actieve houtworm. Het zwarte patina schilfert enigszins af.
