Finse bronzen ketting met opengewerkte hanger – ontwerp van Pentti Sarpaneva, Finland, ca. 1970

Zeer karakteristieke bronzen ketting met sculpturale hanger, ontworpen door de Finse ontwerper Pentti Sarpaneva (1925–1978) – een van de meest markante namen binnen het Scandinavische siersmeedwerk van de jaren ’60 en ’70.

De hanger met kantmotief is opgebouwd uit een complex opengewerkt raster van geometrische vormen, met een ruwe, haast gesmolten textuur die een krachtig licht-donker spel creëert. Deze combinatie van organische ruigheid en grafische precisie is kenmerkend voor Sarpaneva’s signatuurstijl, waarin hij de grens tussen kunstobject en sieraad liet vervagen.

Het warme brons heeft een prachtig doorleefde patina en hangt aan een originele bijpassende ketting met spiraalvormige verbindingsring en haaksluiting. Het stuk ademt de geest van het Finse modernisme: expressief, gedurfd en tijdloos in zijn eenvoud.
