Michael Graves ketel voor Alessi 2lt

Michael Graves iconisch ontwerp voor Alessi, voor gebruik op de kookplaat. Roestvrij staal met lichtblauw handvat en rood vogelfluitje in ABS. Dit was het eerste product van een Amerikaanse ontwerper dat in de Alessi-catalogus werd opgenomen. Het opende de weg voor de speelse ontwerpstijl die later de jaren negentig karakteriseerde en dankzij een geïnspireerde mix van postmoderne en popidiomen is het uitgegroeid tot een van de internationaal erkende iconen van de jaren tachtig. Een bestseller van Alessi sinds 1985, dit is eigenlijk het product waarvan het grootste aantal exemplaren in de geschiedenis van het bedrijf is verkocht.

Michaël Graven

Geboren in Indianapolis, hij was docent architectuur in Princeton sinds het jaar 1962. Zijn architecturale werken omvatten het Portland Building en de Humana Building, de uitbreiding van het Whitney Museum of American Art, en het Newark Museum. Hij schiep de best verkochte 9093 waterkoker voor Alessi. Overleden op 12 maart 2015.
