Zeer fraaie vanitycase van het beroemde Londense merk Sampson Mordan &Co, een zilversmid en retailer van luxe goederen.

Deze kist is uitgevoerd in een kostbare houtsoort en heeft een gevarieerd interieur.
De deksel is voorzien van een spiegel met daarachter een folder voor brieven. 
De onderzijde is voorzien van een aantal flacons, twee vakjes voor thee, drie rechthoekige bakjes, en een tray met kleine handwerkgereedschappen.
Daarnaast is er een knop waarmee de geheime lade voor het opbergen van sieraden ontgrendeld wordt.

De kist is in redelijke staat, het houtwerk heeft wat oneffenheden vanwege krimp. De deksels van de rechthoekige bakjes ontbreken, en van de tray met gereedschappen ontbreken twee schaartjes. 

Echter ook met deze onvolkomenheden is deze kist een zeer goed voorbeeld van de extreem luxe 19e eeuwse gebruiksvoorwerpen.
