Description from the seller
1959 Austin-Healey 100-6 BN4 Four-Seat Roadster with BJ8 Engine
GENERAL:
A 1959 Austin-Healey 100-6 BN4 four-seat roadster, thoroughly renovated over the past years and tastefully upgraded with desirable mechanical enhancements. Originally acquired as a project in 2017, the car was fully stripped and rebuilt, receiving extensive metalwork and a complete repaint in dark brown metallic in 2020. Numerous exterior panels were renewed during restoration, including the fenders, rocker sections, door skins, floorboards, and an outrigger. The car has been fitted with an aluminum front bumper and an aluminum rear bumper, and the overall appearance benefits from a later-style front grille, Lucas-covered running lights, dual exhaust outlets, hood scoop, and plexiglass wind deflectors.
The car sits on 15-inch wire wheels with three-ear knockoffs, wrapped in 195/60 Achilles ATR Sport tires, and features a subtly lowered suspension for improved stance and road presence.
MECHANICAL:
Powering this BN4 is a desirable later-generation 2.9-liter inline-six sourced from an Austin-Healey BJ8 3000, paired with a top-shift four-speed manual transmission. Performance upgrades include a Denis Welch Motorsport-style intake manifold, dual SU HD8 carburetors, a recored radiator, and a five-blade cooling fan. Mechanical refurbishment carried out in 2018 included carburetor servicing, distributor overhaul, clutch hydraulic rebuild, and radiator modification.
The car is equipped with four-wheel drum brakes, with the brake and wheel cylinders reconditioned in 2018.
HISTORY & DOCUMENTATION:
This Healey was sold in 2017 in project condition and was subsequently taken down to bare metal for a comprehensive restoration. Bodywork repairs and repaint were completed in 2020, followed by interior re-trim in 2021. The car has been upgraded while retaining period character, Lucas-branded running lights, a Smiths cabin heater, passenger grab handle, and a custom-fit interior.
The seats were professionally retrimmed in black leather by Rightway Heritage Trimming in Langford, British Columbia, with the remainder of the interior materials supplied by John Skinner Ltd. (UK). A black-carpeted interior was custom-made, covering both floor sections and the fiberglass transmission tunnel.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Offered with a red mohair tonneau cover, spare components, and technical literature, this 1959 Austin-Healey 100-6 represents an attractive opportunity to acquire a tastefully enhanced BN4 with desirable BJ8 power, period-correct character, and fresh cosmetic presentation. With upgraded performance hardware, a fully renewed interior, and recent restoration work, this four-seat roadster blends heritage charm with spirited driving potential. Delivered with a USA title and EU import documents.
We always recommend to come by and check out the car in real life, to get the best idea of the car.

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
