Description from the seller

Mercedes-Benz E420 (W210) · 1996

Engine 4.2 V8 · 279 horsepower · Mileage 175,457 km

The E420 version is one of the rarest and most sought-after variants of the W210 generation E class. Under the hood, it features an 8-cylinder petrol engine with a capacity of 4.2 liters, offering not only exceptional smoothness but also performance typical of higher-end Mercedes models from the nineties.

This model dates from 1996 and was used in Switzerland for most of its life. It arrived in Poland in 2022 and has remained with a single owner since then. The car has been well preserved both visually and technically, making it ready for daily use or peaceful collector's exploitation.

Bodywork and paint

The bodywork looks very good, with no signs of corrosion or visible rust spots – which is rare for this generation W210. The paint in dark navy (original shade) has retained a deep gloss and an even texture. No dents or scratches are visible, and the body lines are straight and even. All chrome elements, including trim and window frames, are complete and in good condition. The seals have maintained their elasticity, with no signs of window fogging. The headlights and light covers are clean, without haze. The car is equipped with original AMG Monoblock 18" wheels, which add a sporty character.

Technical condition

Under the hood is an eight-cylinder M119 petrol engine with a capacity of 4196 cc and 279 HP, known for its unmatched smoothness and durability. The engine starts easily, runs quietly and smoothly, with no leaks. The automatic transmission shifts gears smoothly, without jerks. The brake system and suspension are fully functional, ensuring driving comfort and stability.
The car has undergone routine maintenance after being imported into the country, including fluid and filter changes. The exhaust system was custom-made, giving the car a slightly more sporty sound while remaining within the bounds of elegance. The tires are in good condition, with even tread. The car handles confidently both in urban conditions and on the highway.

Interior

The interior has been kept in very good condition. The black leather upholstery is well-maintained, without any scuffs or tears. The dashboard and door panels are complete and undamaged. The headliner is clean and taut. The wooden inserts have a natural gloss and show no signs of cracks. All electrical devices – windows, mirrors, air conditioning, radio, gauges – are functioning properly. The cabin appears elegant and retains the typical comfort and solid craftsmanship of a Mercedes from the 90s.

Documentation

The car is registered in Poland, has valid third-party liability insurance, and an up-to-date technical inspection. The set includes two keys, registration documents, and service work confirmations.
At the buyer's request, it is possible to organize secure transportation within the European Union – for example, delivery to central France costs approximately €1,000–€1,200.

Well-preserved Mercedes-Benz E420 from 1996 is a rare sedan combining classic style with the power and smooth operation of a V8 engine. The car is ready to drive, fully mechanically sound, and presents an attractive option for both a collector and a fan of classic motoring with a star on the hood.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
