Description from the seller
Sven-Ole Frahm is a German artist, born in 1972 in Bonn and working in Berlin. He studied at the Kunstacademie Düsseldorf and received awards such as the Bergischer Kunstpreis and the Villa Romana Prize.
His work explores the boundaries between painting and object art. Frahm treats the canvas as a material: he cuts, sews, and reconstructs it, creating reliefs, openings, and shadows. His abstract compositions balance between geometry and expression, emphasizing material, structure, and space rather than just color and image.
In this work, Sven-Ole Frahm explores the tension between painting and object. The canvas is divided into vertical bands that together form a rhythmic structure, yet subtle differences in color, texture, and light remain visible. The soft nuances of white, gray, and light blue evoke associations with sky, mist, or ice – natural phenomena in which form and space blend.
Viewing is, of course, possible. Additionally, we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. Furthermore, we collaborate with restorers from the professional organization: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you wish to make use of this service, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
