Yan Zoritchak is a contemporary Slovak glass artist and sculptor. He is especially known for his elegant glass obelisks that depict the cosmos and founded the first center for glass art in Aix-en-Provence. Zoritchak was born on November 13, 1944, in Zdiar, Slovakia, and later studied at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts, where he became a master in decorative crystal work. "My sculptures allow me to return to the earth, to parts of space, thus facilitating the journey through the universe for each of us," the artist said about his work. "Through the clear play of reflection and refraction, in my mind or in the human vision, we approach the fourth dimension." Zoritchak currently lives in Talloires, France, where he has resided since 1970.
