This painting is part of a series that the artist began in 2021; it is a collage: a marouflé drawing on raw canvas. Passionate about this medium, he decided to extend this highly narrative technique.

Self-taught, Laurent Anastay-Ponsolle has always maintained an emotional connection with his artistic practice: feeling is his preferred realm of exploration. From the conception stage, he follows where his instinct guides him. He prefers to photograph his model from different angles to choose what interests him in a pose, rather than reproducing its original truth.

An obsession, the hands. Possessive, fragile or powerful, sensual or anonymous, they emerge like specters to capture attention and to convey the core of the emotional charge in the composition.
