Oude Egypte, Nieuwe rijk Faience Daisy Amulet
An ancient Egyptian white daisy-shaped amulet produced from faience with a black pistil in the middle. The reverse is unadorned. There is a loop added for suspension, that has been re-attached with some glue residue visible.
The Egyptians wore amulets alongside other pieces of jewellery. They were decorative, but also served a practical purpose, being considered to bestow power and protection upon the wearer. Floral amulets like this were produced in large quantities during the New Kingdom, especially the Amarna Period, during the reign of Akhenaten. Amulets such as these were mostly used as decorative elements on broad collars.
Measurements: H 1.2cm x W 0.8cm
