Bronze figure of Eros from a provincial Roman context, presented on a display stand. Material: bronze Age: 1st–3rd century AD Size: height with stand 8.5 cm, height of figure 4.8 cm, weight 39.8 g Condition: Very good condition Solid cast, greenish-brown patina with lighter deposits in places. The figure shows the winged boy in slight forward motion with his right arm stretched forward and his left arm slightly lowered. The anatomy is characterised by softly modelled contours, especially on the torso, legs and abdomen. The face is round, with hinted strands of hair falling in a curly structure over the forehead. The wings attached to the back are ribbed in detail and each has a round hole, which could indicate an antique fastening or suspension. The figure stands on a modern black presentation base. Overall in very good condition with authentic patina, no discernible modern additions. The figure is placed in a recess in the base. Provenance: From an old German private collection, acquired on the German art market prior to 2000; antique estate H.H. (2012), later acquired from a southern German gallery (H.N.) in 2025.
