Vuurbok (2) - Messing - Antieke haardijzers
A decorative pair of brass fire dogs (andirons), dating to circa early 20th century, executed in the classical taste. Each example is surmounted by a stylised figural finial, interpreted as a knightly or heraldic form, with subtle fleur-de-lys influence in the shaping and ornamentation. The shafts are of baluster form, raised on elegant cabriole legs terminating in paw feet, reflecting earlier Georgian and Victorian design traditions. Crafted in solid cast brass, the pair displays a rich, naturally developed patina with darker tonal variation enhancing the depth of the cast detail. Both functional and highly decorative, these andirons offer strong visual presence and would suit a traditional or eclectic interior setting. Presented in good condition with light age-related wear consistent with use.
