Even if you have all Macca stuff imanigable, records, costumes, instruments, equipment. I bet you don’t have this. A traffic ticket. although I cannot prove it, it was for Pauls then green Daimler, with MPL vanity plate. Given right in front of his MPL-office (no not by Rita the meter maid… ).

No, it is not from yesterday. As clearly stated by a duty-bound traffic warden, it was given on Dec 1, 1986. Check the address. 1 Soho Square, London. As you know (or can find on the net) that is the location of his main office of his company, MPL. McCartney Production Limited.

It sat behind the wipers of a green Daimler. It was no big offence, the driver had paid, but ran out of time. Therefore the fine was a mere eight pound, and it ment that he got an extra hour of parking time.

How I got it? I was given it. No, not by the man himself. But by the receptionist. I was a journalist and in those days desperately trying to talk to the one and only. The year before he had gotten back in the limelight again by playing Live Aid, after years of silence following the murder of John. And that seemed to open the doors to interviews.

So every time I was in London, I went by the office, to introduce myself again and again, filing request after request. The receptionist found it amusing, and we struck up a bond. I brought her dutch chocolates, and cheese for Macca.

And one time she was outside, plucking the ticket from the car. The boss will not be thrilled, she laughed. She send out a runner to pay the fine and wanted to throw it away. Nooooo! I said. And I could have it.

Now, forty years later, I have to clean out my stuff. And this seems too special to throw away. This is collectors stuff. You can have it. As said: I cannot really prove it was Pauls. I did not see him, But the vanity plate and the address must confirm my story.
