Kom - Porselein - Ko-Sometsuke Voetkom

An exceptional and highly collectible early 18th-century Chinese blue and white porcelain footed bowl, custom-made for the Japanese tea ceremony market (Ko-Sometsuke). Featuring a beautifully molded lobed rim and a raised foot, the exterior is fluidly hand-painted with elegant underglaze blue lotus blossoms and foliage, framed by a classic geometric border. The interior features a minimalist central motif and a delicate chevron band. The base is marked with an underglaze blue cursive. Specifications Origin: China (Jingdezhen kilns, exported for the Japanese Market) Dimensions: Diameter: 19 cm | Height: 6.5 cm Condition Report Overall State: In very good antique condition, presenting beautifully with an attractive ring when tapped. Completely free of any post-production chips, cracks, or restorations. Surface: Displays minuscule, authentic age-related glaze wear to the interior. Production Characteristics: The rim features distinct unglazed sections. These are textbook mushikui ("moth-eaten") firing effects from the original manufacturing process, highly prized by collectors as a signature hallmark of genuine early 18th-century Ko-Sometsuke porcelain. The foot rim shows characteristic gritty kiln sand adhesions from firing. Last photo taken in daylight. Your item will be carefully packaged and shipped with full track and trace for your peace of mind; local pickup is also warmly welcomed in Ekeren (Antwerp), Belgium.
