A compact earthenware teapot of compressed Gong Deng (宫灯) form, inspired by the shape of traditional palace lanterns. The body is low and rounded with gently flattened proportions, complemented by a short spout and a curved handle, creating a balanced and harmonious silhouette.

The cover is impressed with the mark “Shui Ping” (水平), referring to the classic “level” form associated with precision and proportion in teapot design. The base bears the mark “Mengchen” (孟臣), a homage to the celebrated 17th-century Yixing master potter, whose name became synonymous with refined teapot craftsmanship and was frequently emulated by later makers.

The surface presents a restrained, understated finish, allowing the pleasing proportions and tactile quality of the material to take precedence.
