Carl Friedrich Deiker (1836-1892) - The Welsh Spaniel

✦ GRATIS VERZENDING OVER DE HELE WERELD ✦ GECLASSIFICEERD ALS EXCELLENT

A charming portrait of a Welsh Springer Spaniel dog by Carl Friedrich Deiker (1836-1892), the renowned Düsseldorf painter. Trained in Hanau and Karlsruhe, Deiker settled in Düsseldorf in 1864, where he developed a distinctive reputation for his vivid and technically assured depictions of animals. Although best known for dramatic hunting scenes, deer and wild boar, dog portraits also feature in his documented oeuvre. Here, Deiker concentrates entirely on his four-legged sitter: the soulful eyes and slightly solemn expression give the dog an unusually strong sense of personality.

A splendid addition to any discerning art collection.
