TIGRA Cigarettes - Original 1960s Pin-Up Tigra Advertising Tin Sign - Al Moore - Reclamebord - Original 1960s Pin-Up - Tin Sign
A very, VERY RARE item.
In Belgium this ORIGINAL TIGRA wall art is already a (IMPOSSIBLY) HARD TO FIND item. To my knowledge, there HAS NEVER BEEN one FOR SALE PUBLICLY, let alone internationally.
DESCRIPTION:
Large 50x73cm (28"x19" (inches)) vintage advertising sign from the 1960s, from the infamous Belgian cigarette brand, TIGRA.
This is and was(!) a local and Belgium brand, still today actually. These cigarettes were roughly only known and smoked in and around the area of the cities of Brussels- Ghent, Bruges and Antwerp (which actually is, the whole of Belgium XD)
The campaign for Tigra was drawn by famous American Pin-up artist Al Moore.
The story of the beautiful and friendly looking lady depicted, Angelina Saey, is a sad one.
Especially in Antwerp, Angelina was from Antwerp and lived there, everybody still knows her, and she is still is a local hero. Back in the sixties, I've heard and read, a lot were deeply love with her, and happily bought the packages of cigarettes, with Angelina on them, portraying all her 1960s charm.
CONDITION:
It's USED and 60+ YEARS OLD. it has a VERY NICE PATINA, and is overall in a good condition, for it's age.
ORIGINAL condition. NOT OVERPAINTED.
The glare / surface lacquer layer of the sign is still there, in a good condition; she still has a nice glare, that I tried to photograph.
So, cause it's from decades back, the 1960s, and made from fairly thin (but very beautiful) /flexible material(the sign itself hangs down on the edges under it's own weight), it OBVIOUSLY HAS SOME DENTS, CORROSION, WRINKLES AND SMALL DAMAGES here and there.
I think, it's a small miracle that it still is like this.
PRODUCTION DETAILS; THE AUTHENTICITY:
See the last two pictures.
The last picture (on another (wooden) background) is from ANOTHER THE LAST PICTURE, ON ANOTHER (but the same) sign.
So, As to COMPARE, as a last picture, to prove the vintage originality of the sign that I am selling, I have uploaded a detail of the branding/makers mark, on ANOTHER original TIGRA sign of which I am lucky enough to have, of which the bottom part, the makers mark, is in a more readible condition.
Belgium advertising signs, in those days, where taxed. Which is unique, and kinda handy, cause, they also nicely display their production date, within these tax codes.
You can read that it says, "VANYPECO" (the producer) "T.P." (meaning TAXE PAYE) followed by the tax number, ending in it's production (tax-paying) date, 1961.
SHIPPING:
Will be shipped for free, internationally, packed very very well.
