Aldo Londi, designer at Bitossi, created the Rimini Blu Sahara ceramic vase (Italy) in the 1970–1980 period, measuring 15.5 × 8 × 8 cm and in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
A splendid and rare vase from the Rimini Blu series, in the “Sahara” finish, designed by Aldo Londi in 1959 and still produced today. A rare example from the 1970s.
Born in 1911 in Montelupo Fiorentino, Aldo Londi led a life dedicated to art: he was a painter and sculptor, but above all a ceramist. For over fifty years, he collaborated with Bitossi, initially as an artistic director and later as a collaborator.
Ceramic expertise and artistic sensitivity have been her prerogatives. Combined with her predisposition for research, they allowed her to undertake courageous explorations and define a new expressive lexicon.
The iconic Rimini Blu series, produced continuously since 1959, is distinguished by the texture of its surface. The decoration, made up of marks that create a fantastic whirl of abstract-geometric elements fixed beneath the blue, evokes the play of light on the surface of the sea.
The same approach was then reapplied to a series of vases featuring the classic abstract-geometric elements, but painted in warm color tones. This range of colors was dubbed "Sahara," because of the hues used—the same as those of the great desert.
Dimensions 15.5 x 8 cm
