Description from the seller
Large centerpiece in polychrome maiolica – Manifattura di Sesto Fiorentino, early 20th century
An imposing and scenographic centerpiece in polychrome maiolica, attributed to the production of Sesto Fiorentino, a refined Tuscan manufacturing hub active from the late 19th to the early decades of the 20th century, renowned for the pictorial quality and the decorative richness of its artistic maiolica.
The elongated and sinuous form, with a shaped edge and undulating contour, is enriched by a cobalt-blue background decoration with foliate friezes and Baroque volutes in relief, executed with notable painterly skill. In the center rises a painted ornamental cartouche, while at the extremities there unfold plastically modeled mascarons, of strong sculptural impact and decorative taste, typical of Tuscan Liberty–historicist production.
The chromatic palette, intense and luminous, unites blues, warm yellows, greens and ferruginous tones, with a brilliant glassy glaze that enhances the volumes and depth of the decoration. The ensemble yields an object of great stage presence, conceived as a centerpiece for important tables or decorative consoles.
Era: early 20th century
Manufacture: attributable to Sesto Fiorentino
Material: hand-painted polychrome maiolica
Dimensions:
Length 52 cm
Depth 12 cm
Height 13 cm
Good overall condition. Minor flaws and signs of aging, visible in the photograph, do not in any way affect the overall appearance, the formal harmony, or the decorative value of the work, which remains fully legible and has a strong aesthetic impact.
Photos are an integral part of the description. Guaranteed careful packaging entrusted to industry professionals.
