Miroslav Tichy

Hardcover ‏ : ‎ 176 pages

Miroslav Tichy created, in communist Czechoslovakia, from the early 60s to the mid 90s, an obsessive photographic work around the female figure, reinventing photography from scratch on the margins of any artistic movement. His images, captured instinctively or automatically with approximate optics and devices manipulated with waste materials, offer an extraordinary, eroticized and dreamlike reality: they reveal an artist outside the box, marked by classical pictorial suggestions, but whose method is sometimes similar to certain amateurish practices and "foreign" art. The photographs of Miroslav Tichy, unclassifiable and timeless, bear witness to a singular talent. This catalog is the first available work on the artist.
