This toast rack is a modern replica in stainless steel by Alessi made since 1991, after a design from 1878 by Christopher Dresser.

Christopher Dresser (England, 1834–1904) was a renowned botanist and scholar of decorative art, he likely was the first industrial designer in the modern sense of the word. He designed things from wallpaper to furniture, from metal objects to ceramic and glass.

The toast rack is part of the collection of the world-famous Victoria and Albert Museum in London, among other places.
