A car with an incredible story. An elderly gentleman and loyal FIAT client purchased it new in 1970. Not accustomed, like the majority of Italians back then, to the change to semi-automatic (without the clutch pedal) of this ‘Idroconvert’ version, he stopped using it after only 116 km and parked it in his home's garage. 

After his death his grandson continued, in memory of his grandfather, to religiously maintain this car, without ever using it but making sure to regularly move it from the garage to the garden area.

This FIAT 850 appears today exactly as it left the factory 52 years ago. Opening the door, one can still smell the characteristic ‘new smell’ of the FIAT cars of the 60s and 70s. I showed it to an old FIAT worker who was moved when, passing his hand over the engine compartment, he recognised the protective wax that was spread on some parts before delivery.

Certainly an occasion more unique than rare to go back in time.
Original plate (Turin) from the first registration, the car has never been de-registered and has therefore remained registered.

Complete with jack, toolkit, triangle, with box of the replacement light bulbs, the user and maintenance manual, the brochures that FIAT used to provide to buyers, the document holder and the rare leaflet of the Idroconvert version, fully original and like new.

Otherwise, on the windscreen can still be seen the first circulation cachet and the insurance service from 1970. Also shipped with a letter from Fiat to its first owner.

I drove it for 2 km, after changing the liquids, to make sure all of the mechanical and electric parts are in working order. And also to verify that the odometer works correctly! Every functions as it would on a car new from the factory.
