Mercedes-Benz 280 SL W113 "Pagoda" from 1968.

The Mercedes SLs gained a well-founded legendary reputation over the years. 

A reminder of its glorious career can be found in its name "Super Light" or "Super Leicht" in German, a commemorative citation of a dominant past in motor racing throughout the 20th century.
After winning hundreds of races, the SL has become a timeless symbol of success and class.

After the famous 300SL "butterfly", unveiled in 1954, the SL models received "comfort" versions, the most mythical being the SL nicknamed "Pagoda", which will go down in automotive history as one of the masterpieces of the talented French designer Paul Bracq. 

Production began with an in-line 6-cylinder engine and ended with the much more technologically advanced top-of-the-range 280 series with its wider 2.8-litre engine producing 170 hp, representing the most desirable model among SL enthusiasts of the 1960s - exactly like the model you see listed here.

About this specimen, still in very good condition:

- Hard-top, hard-top holders and its protective cover will be sold with the car.

- Three seats - French registration.

Reliable and usable in everyday life even today, this range lives up to the image of quality and robustness that has always defined Mercedes-Benz.

This green Pagoda is an automatic 280 SL version. Registered in 1968, it is equipped with power steering, a black canvas top and its original hard top, also in green.

The interior is tan, in very good condition and entirely original.  
The MBtech seats show a nice patina, and have kept their original comfort.
The woodwork, also original, was re-varnished in 2022 and harmoniously completes the interior.

Only a few thousand km have been covered since its restoration.

- The bodywork looks very good, the floors and undercarriage have been refurbished this year, restored and protected.

- Overall, the chrome is in very good condition. 
Some pieces, especially on the hard top, are showing signs of wear.

- The engine, which has also been restored, works perfectly.

- All fluids and filters have just been replaced.
- The water pump and exhaust silencers are new.

The front shock absorbers are new, the brakes have also been restored and the discs and pads are new.
The car is fitted with Michelin tyres, old but look in very good condition.

This vehicle comes with a collector's registration card, the next technical inspection is due by the end of 2027. 
A technical assessment of the vehicle is available.

It is a very pleasant to use convertible for long-distance rallies or elegant meetings. 

The icing on the cake: its exhaust system has a particularly pleasant sound to the ear.
