Hanging lamp - Metal
'A design seemingly made of one piece' (DesignPlus panel, 1999).
Original iconic Alessi Coban RS 04 espresso machine by Richard Sapper (1988).
Good condition, some usual signs of wear and tear.
A unique piece, hard to find in this condition.
The original manual is also still available, this makes it extra special.
The name "Coban"
Sapper used the name Coban to refer to a little town in Guatemala, in the middle of the coffee growing region that produces one of the best coffees in the world. His grandfather was a coffee planter there, and his father was born there.
The Coban espresso machine embodies the perfect combination of form and function: the parts of an espresso - coffee beans and clear water - are presented in two pedestals and are connected by a connecting belt to form an excellent product.
