Ferrari 328 GTS. 1987 Left Hand Drive.
BEWARE: requires gearbox repair as 2nd and 3rd gear do not engage due likely to synchromesh ring drop out which is a problem with the 328.
Very recent quote from authorised Ferrari dealer indicates Euro 20,000 for complete gearbox overhaul with new clutch fitted and full service whilst engine is out of car. Quote attached.
Would benefit from new engine compartment sound insulation fitted when engine is out.
Starts perfectly and has just had engine oil and filter change, cam belts and tensioners changed and new ANSA silencer fitted plus new rear grill above exhaust, new engine deck struts and wipers. Have receipts. Has only done a few kilometres since this service work was done and that was when the gearbox issue manifested. Oil pressure excellent 78 psi / 5.5 kg/cm2 on tickover when warm.
Internally excellent and everything electrical works as it should. No rust on bodywork or chassis and no dents or dings, with paintwork in excellent condition throughout. Has not been in any incident whilst in my possession for 20 years nor I think before that. Front wheel storage bonnet and grill painted due to stone chips and insect impacts. No scrapes or marks on wheels. Brought to Italy by me from UK/Norway in 2011 when I took residence in Italy and before BREXIT therefore no EU import taxes. Was permanently exported from UK on 31.07.2004 (See attached copy of permanent export from UK signed and dated by me and electronically dated by UK Customs authorities who retained the Section 11 and forwarded to DVLA). Used by me until late 2008 then stored in heated garages on off floor support stands for 15 years.
First supplied in Berlin then went to Belgium then to UK before I bought it therefore I am 4th owner looking at the service booklet and service receipts from previous owners. All receipts referred to are available with the car. When serviced in July 2004 new speedometer fitted with 5294 kilometres registered therefore car has likely covered 49062 kilometres/30485 miles. Car is remote alarmed and has three ignition keys, tyre air valve lock caps, gear change lock and lightened alloy pedals. Has original tonneau cover for storing targa top behind seats.
Besides gearbox issue photos 232, 233 and 234 show small tears in boot cover and boot rubber seal. Photo 235 shows small tear in driver seat from dropped targa top which is easily repaired but demonstrates it needs two people to remove and install targa top.
Why sell? At my age of 71 years I cannot commit Euro 20,000 to a car I have not used regularly so it needs to move on to someone who can enjoy it.
