Volkswagen - Double Cab Pick Up Doka Crew Cab - 1971

1971 Volkswagen T2 early bay double cab in great condition. Neptune blue with cloudy white. VW colours! The current owner brought this delightful example from Spain where it had been exported from Germany from manufacture and had been used as a postal delivery pick up. Quite cool!  Hence its stance and ride height which are higher than usual - from the factory. VW Certificate confirming its date of manufacture, VIN etc.  All old ITV records and paperwork/receipts at hand from the prior owner and those from the current one. It is on French "collection carte grise" and classic plates and will have a valid French "contrôle technique". The previous owner had restored it down to bare metal with many new parts, please see photos attached below. Garaged parked ever since it landed in France, never driven through rain or mud to keep it in great condition.  Not "concours" (micro dents in a few areas) but is impressive when you see it and it always draws a crowd and interest wherever it goes! Very low miles in it so it's in excellent condition.  Undercarriage is sealed and the servo brakes ensure it stops on a dime. Interior is left as it was, like the original look and doesn't even have a stereo as the owner prefers to listen to the engine and use a Bluetooth speaker instead.   There is an old stereo in it, but never connected by the owner.  It had new seat covers and many new parts for the interior as you will see. I had a hand made rear tonneau cover made by yacht cover specialists using sun and waterproof material and bought new bars to support it so the rear bed is well protected.  The rear bed is new metal and no drill holes in it anywhere.  I wanted to leave it untouched so no rust issues would occur. This is an excellent condition pick up and has been cleaned (Meguiars products) with waterless spray and polished every few months so paintwork is excellent. The vehicle has been well taken care of by its owner, always serviced, oil changed, the 1600 twin port engine runs sweetly. Here is an example of the work the previous owner did when restoring it:   • Exterior sheet, repair of oxides. painting, corresponding to the original color range of the year. new cargo bed. chrome ring headlights. new front turn signals. full tail lights. reverse light. new license plate light. new rear Volkswagen emblem. Complete rubbers of all windows, new side mirrors. • Inside upholstered new original front and rear seats (including original padding). side upholstery in back new. original ceiling upholstery. front seat belts. new original driver mat and kick plates. interior courtesy light. • Mechanics 1600 cc new original engine. original exhaust. retain new crankshaft. brakes: new pump and brake booster, new shoes and drums, new brake lines. new shock absorbers. new address bar and sleeves. new steering balls. The vehicle is located in Antibes, south of France. Shipping is possible from Genoa, Marseille or Le Havre for extra cost.
