A quality folio manuscript from the Holy book scribed by Abdullah at-Khadim in AD1616 in the Mughal period. Sadly the central part of the volume was missing otherwise it would have been kept in tact. The format is very typical of the earlier Sultanate India Qur'an with expansive headings, large script in fine hand and margins ruled in gold with a red outer frame line. 

The folio consists of three distinct header horizontals in very bold, large form Thuluth script, with two main body scripts sandwiched between the headings, separated by gold interlinear lines, with columns to the sides where commentary can be added. Each of the three lines of script within the main body are in smaller well defined Naskhi in black ink, with the exception of the first line of scripture which looks like a sub-heading in black and red script underlined by two red lines. There are simple gold aya marking out eleven (11) verses and diacritical markings in red to aid the devotees. 

There is a simple decorative medallion in the left margin alongside the sub-heading marking a sub-division of the Koran. This is attached to the framing device, Below this is some commentary in black script.  

Aside from a slight stain on the lower right of the frame the folio is clean and in good condition. 

The Delhi sultanate.  First established in 1206 by Qutub-ud-din aibak, the 'sultanate' is regarded by many as the golden age of medieval India, marked by the rule of 'Sultans of Delhi' for 320 years (1206-1526). The Sultanate came to an end in 1526, when Babur defeated the forces of the last Lodi sultan, Ibrahim Lodi at the first Battle of Panipat, and formed the Mughal Empire. The Mughals ruled the area for three centuries.
