HISTORIAL 
La 14 serie de Packard marcó un importante punto de inflexión para la empresa. Introducido en 1936 para reemplazar la serie 12. Como antes, había tres líneas de modelos distintas disponibles: el Ocho, el Super Ocho y el Doce, todos los cuales estaban disponibles en una tremenda variedad de estilos y configuraciones de carrocería, incluido el sedán formal, el estilo de carrocería ofrecido aquí.

Aunque los Junior Packard de la época ayudaron a la compañía a superar la Gran Depresión, aquellos que podían permitirse los más lujosos Senior Packards de ocho cilindros disfrutaron de la transmisión sincronizada de tres velocidades y un motor ocho cilindros en línea de 385 pulgadas cúbicas y 150 caballos de potencia. En gran parte debido al rendimiento fiable de este motor, los coches de la Serie 14 y 15 siguen siendo igual de populares entre los coleccionistas de hoy.

LA UNIDAD SUBASTADA
Se trata de un 1501 Super Eight Formal Sedan del año-modelo 1937, introducido en septiembre de 1936. Aunque se desconoce su historia, su matrícula de la provincia de Valencia del año 1947 podría indicar un pasado interesante. El gobierno de la República Española se trasladó en 1936 durante la Guerra Civil española desde Madrid a Valencia, donde estuvo establecido durante un año, hasta 1937. Este tipo de grandes vehículos americanos eran muy utilizados por el Gobierno Español en aquella época, por lo que quizá esta unidad tuvo un uso oficial y quedó en desuso hasta que fue rehabilitado y rematriculado durante la postguerra, aunque esto es solo una hipótesis. El coche tiene una restauración que no se ha llegado a terminar, que fue iniciada hace varios años. Su actual propietario lo adquirió recientemente y ha realizado varios trabajos, aunque tampoco ha llegado a finalizar la restauración.


CARROCERÍA
La carrocería fue restaurada hace tiempo pero ahora tiene defectos. Está pendiente de pintar el techo y tiene una pequeña abolladura en puerta trasera izquierda. Falta de terminar de restaurar, se entrega completo de molduras y otros ornamentos, que están todos cromados. Faltan algunas gomas y un par de cristales de ventanas traseras. Las gomas de los estribos se han puesto nuevas. El portaequipajes trasero ha sido restaurado.

MECÁNICA
El motor fue reconstruido por completo hace 5 años y desde entonces ha recorrido solo unos 10 kilómetros. Se entrega con radiador recién restaurado, carburador nuevo a estrenar y depósito de combustible hecho a mano en aluminio, aunque también incluye el depósito original. Bomba de freno superior, bombines, latiguillos, líneas cobre y zapatas además de tambores de frenos nuevos y reconstruidos. El coche arranca y frena perfectamente , hay vídeos disponibles a disposición de los interesados.

INTERIOR
Sin restaurar, en estado original y necesitado de una reconstrucción total de tapicería. Las maderas interiores del techo se hicieron nuevas. Conserva los asientos traseros abatibles.
