De auto is een US uitvoering, gebouwd in 1990 en in november 1990 in Nederland ingevoerd en geregistreerd. 

De huidige eigenaar heeft de auto gekocht in 1997 bij Mercedes dealer Van Dijk in Rotterdam. De auto heeft geen schades gehad. De toevoeging U9 op het kentekenbewijs betekend dat de auto is toegelaten in de milieu-zones. Hij beschikt over een TÜV certificaat "Schadstoffgruppe 4". De US uitvoeringen hadden toen al een verplichte katalysator. 

De auto is in zeer goede conditie en wordt geleverd met de (ingebouwde) soft-top en de hard-top in de originele rode kleur (signaal rood 568).

Meegeleverd worden:
- Alle originele documentatie, zoals de Fahrzeugdatenkarte 
- Set van de het grootste deel van de schema's van de elektrische installatie 
  aanwezig.
- Originele Combi-instrument. (In 2004 is het combi-instrument (instrumenten 
  paneel) in zijn geheel vervangen door een origineel nieuw US combi-instrument. 
  Onderzoek bij leverancier Siemens-VDO wees uit dat het oorspronkelijk combi- 
 instrument geheel in orde was. De oorzaak van de storing was een licht 
  gecorrodeerde aansluitstekker. De mijlenstand van het oorspronkelijke 
  instrument bij de vervanging was 88.076 mijlen. De stand van het huidige 
  instrument is 41.903 mijlen).
- Een ingebouwde combi radio met een CD wisselaar en met navigatie (spraak en 
  richtingspijlen) van VDO-Dayton. 
  Het scherm heeft een kleine afwijking die het functioneren niet beïnvloed.
- Set vloermatten in de beige kleur van de bekleding
- Extra set originele vloermatten in zwart
- Een alarmsysteem Klasse 3 met certificaat.
- Originele Mercedes velgen (1996) en goede banden type Michelin HP 
  225/55R16 95W.
- Reserve wiel (aluminium velg en band) (in de ruimte onder de kofferbak)
- Een Nederlands kenteken en toestemming voor (kleine) US-formaat 
  kentekenplaten (model 18.2).
- APK keuring geldig tot april 2025
- Set reservelampen en zekeringen
- Originele Mercedes gevarendriehoek

Het hydraulische systeem voor het openen en sluiten van de soft-kap en de vergrendeling van de hard-top moet nagekeken worden. 
Het functioneert maar voor het openen en sluiten is enige manuele hulp nodig.

Motorisch is de 300SL in uitstekende conditie. De carrosserie heeft nergens roestvorming. 

De kleur van de 300SL is signaalrood (568). In afwijking van de Europese 300 SL typen hebben de kunststofdelen dezelfde kleur als de auto. De bekleding is beige. De vloer is bekleed met stof in de zelfde beige kleur.  

De auto zit in de wegenbelasting, is verzekerd .
Er is een zeer kleine beschadiging links-onder aan het kunsttofdeel van een opspattende kei.

De auto is altijd in onderhoud geweest bij Mercedes specialisten. De auto is te bekijken in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel, waar hij altijd in een verwarmde garage heeft gestaan en nog staat.
