Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Spider.

Deze prachtige en elegante sportwagen met een pittige 1600 motor is in 1966 op de weg gekomen in Californië en heeft daar een groot deel van zijn leven doorgebracht. Zo ver bekend is hij in handen geweest van totaal 3 eigenaren. De huidige eigenaar heeft hem overgenomen van de 2e, toen kwam de auto naar Nederland van Atwater, Californië. Dit gebeurde in 2003. 

De staat van de auto.
Deze laatste Nederlandse, Alfa Romeo liefhebbende eigenaar is in 2003 ook gelijk begonnen met het restaureren van de Giulia. De auto is in een kantel-brug geplaatst en volledig kaal gemaakt, hier is zeer veel tijd voor genomen. Mede omdat hij uit Californië kwam is er gelukkig nooit aan gelast, dit resulteert in een mooie strakke koest met strak passende deuren en de kleine puntlassen nog zichtbaar. 

Na het strak maken van de koets is hij weer terug gespoten in zijn rode kleur. Dit is uitgevoerd door C. Van der Hoven in Oude Pekela.

Doordat de koets in de basis dus heel goed was is het uiteindelijke resultaat erg mooi: het is een erg strakke auto om te zien, dit viel meteen op. De deurnaden sluiten mooi zonder kieren, het plaatwerk is strak en de puntlassen zijn nog mooi zichtbaar door de gespoten lak. Een detail wat ikzelf erg mooi vind bij een klassieker als deze. Eenmaal ongedaan of geplamuurd krijg je dit natuurlijk niet terug.

Het interieur is er helemaal uitgegaan bij het restaureren en helemaal vernieuwd terug geplaatst zoals je kan zien op de foto’s: nieuw tapijt, opnieuw beklede stoelen en een volledig nieuw vouwdak (wat mooi gespannen is als hij dicht is). 

De aandrijflijn is nog origineel en de 1600 motor loopt zeer mooi, met het heerlijke scherpe en typerende Alfa geluid. De nokkenassen kennen geen zichtbare slijtsporen. Bij het starten slaat hij direct aan en hij loopt erg mooi. Hij schakelt fijn door de versnellingen heen.

Er is erg veel documentatie bewaard van deze restauratie van onderdelen als gewerkte uren.

Enkel wat kleine puntjes op de i zou je kunnen perfectioneren, zoals het opnieuw polijsten van de bumpers bijvoorbeeld of het spuiten van de velgen.
Al met al een prachtige auto die je verzameling completer maakt, of natuurlijk om heerlijk van te genieten.

De auto wordt verkocht voor de Nederlandse Alfa liefhebber. In het geval dat de auto buiten Nederland verkocht wordt en opgehaald wordt door een extern transportbedrijf (en niet door u persoonlijk) dient de auto eerst uitbetaald te zijn. Uiteraard kunnen we videobellen en assisteer ik graag bij alle vragen die nog te binnen schieten alvorens hij op transport gaat. Ook help ik bij al het papierwerk.
