Een stijlicoon en een tijdloze klassieker – dat is de Volvo Amazon. Vanaf het moment dat de eerste exemplaren de weg op kwamen, wist deze elegante auto met zijn ronde, vloeiende lijnen velen te bekoren. Niet alleen vanwege zijn stijlvolle ontwerp, maar ook vanwege zijn legendarische robuustheid.
Dit specifieke exemplaar betreft de zeldzamer geworden tweedeursvariant, die ondanks de hoge productiecijfers steeds moeilijker te vinden is. Oorspronkelijk geleverd op 30 september 1966, viert deze Amazon inmiddels zijn 59e verjaardag. Waar veel vergelijkbare auto’s door de jaren heen talloze eigenaren hebben gekend, is dit exemplaar slechts vijf keer van eigenaar gewisseld.

Carrosserie & lakwerk:

Zo op het eerste oogt lijkt de auto van buiten in een nette staat. Hij is compleet; geen missende lijstjes en emblemen. Echter is de lak van de auto niet mooi. Je kunt hem wat ruig noemen, hij is ‘riant’ gespoten, denk aan een wat sinaasappel-achtige lak. Iets wat voor een groot deel te polijsten is en wellicht voor de purist een aandachtspunt is. Dit gaat eigenlijk vooral om de motorkap en kofferklep. Wel is de buitenzijde hierdoor waarschijnlijk gespaard gebleven, hij heeft geen nare roestpunten bij de deuren of wielkastranden, enkel een beginnend blaasje hier of daar die nog prima te herstellen zijn; als je hem weer als nieuw wilt maken. Het chroom is rondom best goed, de achterbumper heeft wat schadeplekjes.  

Technisch:

Om er lekker dagelijks mee te gaan rijden zal de auto eerst even nagelopen moeten worden. Hij is rijdbaar, maar protesteert wel wat: de choke moet half open blijven staan, anders wil hij afslaan. Mogelijk is de carburateur wat viezig en zullen filters vervangen moeten worden. Dit is wel noodzakelijk voor je er in gaat rijden, de afgelopen 2 jaar heeft hij vrij weinig gereden. Wel slaat hij na aan na starten en schakelt hij soepel door de versnellingen heen. Ook het remmen gaat prima. Verder is hij al APK vrij.

Interieur:

De stoelen in donker rood/bruine kleur zien er op een scheurtje na in de stoel -wat prima te herstellen is- er allemaal nog best goed uit. De hemel zit er mooi strak gespannen in. Het tapijt is mooi en nog mooi schoon. Een strak dashboard zonder extra geboorde gaten of scheuren. Een kleinigheid hier of daar, zoals wat kleine krasjes op de deuren. Eigenlijk allemaal wel erg mooi voor een 59 jaar oude auto.   

Documenten:

Indien de auto gekocht wordt in het buitenland kunnen we helpen bij de juiste exportdocumenten zodat je hem kan registreren in jouw land. Ook kunnen we helpen bij een tijdelijk kenteken inclusief verzekering, echter is het aan te raden om de auto eerst wat algemeen onderhoud te geven alvorens er de weg mee op te gaan. Naast het kenteken bewijs zit er verder geen onderhoudsboekje meer bij.
