Deux armes africaines traditionnelles – Kpinga (Mangbetu/Azande) et couteau de prestige Ngbaka – Fer forgé – RDC – XXe siècle

Rare ensemble de deux armes africaines en fer forgé, originaires de la République Démocratique du Congo. Ces objets sont associés à des usages symboliques, cérémoniels ou statutaire.

La première pièce, de type couteau de prestige Ngbaka, présente une silhouette ajourée remarquable avec une large boucle terminale. Elle était probablement utilisée comme insigne de rang, portée lors de cérémonies ou de danses rituelles. Le fer montre une belle patine, avec une zone de forge à teinte différente. Manche en bois tourné.

La seconde est une Kpinga, arme emblématique des Azande et Mangbetu, à usage rituel et réservé aux membres des sociétés secrètes. Sa morphologie en étoile, aux multiples pointes, la rendait spectaculaire, mais son absence de tranchant signale une fonction davantage cérémonielle que guerrière. Belle forge ancienne et poignée en bois.

Ces armes témoignent du savoir-faire des forgerons traditionnels d’Afrique centrale et de l’importance symbolique que portaient ces objets au sein des sociétés locales.
