The VÄSTERÖN stool is a great example of IKEA’s approach to functional, minimalist, and durable design. Created for both indoor and outdoor use, these stools are made from robust powder-coated steel and synthetic mesh, offering a lightweight yet sturdy seating option.

Part of IKEA’s versatile outdoor furniture collection, VÄSTERÖN was designed to withstand the elements while also being stylish enough for indoor spaces. With its industrial, airy look, it blends seamlessly in modern interiors, balconies, gardens, or patios.

The stool’s mesh seat allows for quick drying and easy maintenance, and its stackable design makes it practical for small spaces or for storing multiple units when not in use

The VÄSTERÖN stools were designed by Inma Bermúdez and Francis Cayouette, two renowned designers who have collaborated with IKEA on several well-known pieces. Their design for VÄSTERÖN reflects a focus on simplicity, durability, and versatility — creating a stool that is both practical and stylish, suitable for both indoor and outdoor spaces. With their clean and functional aesthetic, Bermúdez and Cayouette perfectly captured IKEA’s spirit of affordable, innovative design.

Although no longer in production, VÄSTERÖN has gained attention among vintage IKEA collectors and design lovers for its elegant simplicity and practicality.

Condition: Good — Considering the age of these stools, they are in good used condition. Show light wear and tear, including minor marks consistent with regular use (see photos). All stools remain stable, structurally sound, and fully functional.
