Dit is een bijzondere schuurvondst: de meest luxe uitvoering van de Jaguar XJ 12 met alle denkbare opties. De auto is in 1983 geleverd in Duitsland. Jarenlang in bezit geweest van een garagehouder die dagelijks een paar kilometer woonwerk-verkeer in de Jaguar aflegde. Vandaar de zeer lage kilometerstand. 

De auto is in 2011 in Nederland ingevoerd. Er zijn twee eigenaren geweest, een Duitse en een Nederlandse. De auto heeft tot 2020 gereden, daarna was de apk afgelopen. Er heeft een aantal jaren een lpg-installatie ingezeten. Die is inmiddels verwijderd. In 2020 is de auto eerst in een schuur gezet. Het laatste jaar heeft de auto onder een carport gestaan.

De auto verdient een grondige restauratie. De auto is volledig origineel en er is nog nooit aan gelast. De lak is op bepaalde plekken slecht. Op de bekende plekken, zoals rond de voor-en achterruit, zitten serieuze roestplekken. Ook aan de onderkant van de achterdeuren zitten serieuze roestplekken. Gezien de leeftijd heeft de auto een aantal kleinere roestplekken die om laswerk vragen. De onderkant en de dragende delen zijn robuust. 

Het plaatwerk is strak op 1 plek na: in het linkervoorspatbord zit een deuk. Een goede plaatwerker kan deze deuk er wel weer uit krijgen.

Het interieur is aan een opfrisbeurt toe. Helaas heeft het leer te lijden gehad van het stilstaan. Er zitten een paar droogtescheuren in de voorstoelen en de achterbank. Eventueel heb ik tegen meerprijs twee andere voorstoelen en en achterbank, in dezelfde kleur leer, maar geen VandenPlas-uitvoering. 

Het interieur is zeer luxe uitgevoerd, met elektrische ramen, elektrische spiegels, elektrisch verstelbare stoelen en een elektrisch dak, waarvan het merendeel functioneert. Het schuifdak en een van de ramen moet worden nagekeken.  Verdere uitrusting onder meer: cruise control, stuurbekrachtiging, airco, centrale deurvergrendeling, automaat. Toen de Jaguar in 2020 werd stilgelegd, werkten al deze functies. Op de stuurbekrachtiging en de versnellingsbak na heb ik nu niet kunnen checken of deze dingen nu werken. Alle verlichting en overige functies lijken te werken.
De motor loopt, maar niet echt goed. Hij loopt zeker niet op alle 12 cilinders. Er is een brandstoflekkage in een aanvoerslang en hij lekt bij een van de injectoren. Hierdoor lekt de motor brandstof bij draaiende motor. 

De auto kan niet worden proefgereden. Hooguit de motor starten en een paar meter voor en achteruit om de bak te testen.

De versnellingsbak is goed en schakelt soepel. Ik ga er van uit dat de motor vervangen moet worden.
