Description from the seller
Tomas Schats (Eindhoven, 1976) is a multi-disciplinary artist, he makes clear sculptures from which everything superfluous has been omitted.
The narratives he tells are layered and occasionally take unexpected turns.
Tomas Schats says himself:
‘In their minimal linearity, these sculptures resemble cartoons but they are,
in their simplicity, more lyrical and more ambiguous, wry, but nevertheless light-footed. They are based on reality, but transcend it is a subtle manner. They tell stories about humankind, with all its possibilities and limitations.'
Besides creating autonomous art, Tomas works illustrates
He also carries out numerous assignments, including sculpture in the public space, wall drawings and signage design for museums and other institutions.
Work of Tomas has been showed in galleries and musea
Amongst others: MoMA NY design, Art Rotterdam, Gallery Withtsjalling, Object Rotterdam, Stedelijk Museum Schiedam, RAM Gallery, Kunsthal KAdE, De Pont
