Holton Model 48 trumpet – vintage from ca. 1948–49 For sale is a beautiful Frank Holton & Co. Model 48 trumpet, handmade in Elkhorn, Wisconsin (USA) just after World War II. The instrument is in good condition for its age and plays well. The instrument had damage to the bell but it was professionally fixed in connection with a deep cleaning and service done a year ago. Facts Model: Holton Model 48 Serial number: 171790 Year of production: ca. 1948–49 Finish: Original lacquered brass Medium bore (approx. 0.459”) Soft but focused sound – suitable for both jazz and band playing Original engraving: Frank Holton & Co., Elkhorn Wis. Condition The lacquer has a natural patina, but has some wear and the lacquer is missing on parts of the trumpet. The valves operate easily and tightly All pipes and triggers adjust as they should No significant dents – neat and well-maintained instrument Recently cleaned and lubricated Included Used Protec brand gig bag in good condition Comment This is a true vintage instrument from Holton's golden age.
