Bronstijd Brons Arrowhead Group (3) (Zonder minimumprijs)
A group of three Bronze Age bronze arrowheads, each featuring a raised midrib descending into a cylindrical stem and a long tang. Two of the arrowheads feature triangular blades whilst the remaining one has a leaf-shaped blade. On one of the triangular-bladed arrowheads, the tip and majority of the tang are now chipped off; it is likely that this arrowhead features sharp barbs but unfortunately now also chipped off. Patination and earthy encrustations to the surfaces, alongside chipping to the edges of the blades.
In ancient times a number of nomadic populations, such as the Medes and the Kassites settled in the Western Asiatic region. Due to the nomadic nature of the tribes, none of these bronzes were of great size, since it was required for them to be light and portable. Their artwork mainly comprises ornaments, vessels and weapons. Most of these bronze items have been recovered in funerary contexts.
Measurements: (circa) L 8.4-12.8cm x W 1.5-2cm
Provenance: Ex. London Collection, formed between 1990 - present.
