A Chinese Terracotta Relief Plaque, Warring States Period, 5th to 3rd Century B.C. Fine and expressive Chinese terracotta relief plaque measuring 26 cm high. The scene depicts two figures in dynamic interaction: one seated playing a large drum while the other stands or leans over, possibly dancing or participating in a ritual or musical scene. Remains of original red pigment are still visible, enhancing its appeal. Such terracotta reliefs were produced during the Warring States Period and were commonly used as architectural decorations or tomb furnishings, reflecting the rich artistic and musical traditions of pre-imperial China.
