Marcel Mendez presents Fragmented Face #5 -XL- (No Reserve), a unique original acrylic painting on canvas from 2025, 110 cm high by 70 cm wide, signed by hand, depicting a Cubist portrait from Spain in a post-2020 period and sold directly from the artist as part of the Geometrías del Ser series.
Description from the seller
Fragmented Face # 5
Series: Geometries of Being
Technique: Acrylic on canvas
Description:
The painting features a female face constructed from fragmentation and balance. The face, divided by a precise vertical axis, suggests an internal duality: emotion and reason, intuition and structure. Flat colors—deep reds, serene blues, soft greens, and skin tones—interact through geometric blocks reminiscent of a contemporary mosaic.
The set conveys a sense of silent introspection. There is no dramatic gesture, but rather a contained, firm presence that observes from within. The geometry does not dehumanize the face; on the contrary, it transforms it into a symbol of balance between order and emotion, between what is shown and what remains hidden.
The black, compact, and enveloping hair acts as a visual frame and anchor, while the left eye, serene and almost closed, contrasts with the right, which is intervened by a multicolored checkered pattern that evokes memory, digital identity, or analytical thinking. The lips, defined and centered, add a touch of humanity and contained silence.
The composition conveys both calm and mystery: a figure that does not impose itself, but is not diluted either. It is a symbolic portrait where geometry does not cool the expression but orders it, transforming the face into an emotional and mental map, suspended between the intimate and the abstract.
The canvas is carefully rolled and securely packaged in a sturdy square tube for shipping.
The images you are viewing now are examples of how the artwork might look when framed and hung on a wall.
