Pair of richly decorated three-branch silver-plated candelabra dating to 1890–1920, in an antique style, with a central column and two curved arms, measuring 28 cm high, 29 cm wide and 12 cm deep, showing wear including patina and minor losses to the silvering.
Description from the seller
The subject of the auction is a pair of richly adorned, three-armed candelabras (candelabra) that constitute an excellent example of artistic craftsmanship. The light holders are characterized by a dynamic form and intricate details.
Product features:
Design: Classical construction with a central column and two S-shaped arms.
Ornamentation: Very rich floral motifs – numerous rosebuds, flowers, and acanthus leaves covering both the base, the shaft, and the candle sleeves themselves.
Shaft: Decorative, with variable cross-section, featuring a prominent medallion surrounded by garlands of flowers.
Base: Stable, wide, with an irregular, wavy edge and a repeated floral motif. Visible traces of silvering wear.
Condition and defects:
The items show signs of use and the passage of time, which give them an authentic character, but require the buyer's attention:
Arm deformations: Visible asymmetries in the bending of the candelabra arms. In some angles the arms appear slightly bent relative to the vertical axis (possible need for gentle adjustment).
Coating condition: Local wear of the silvering layer is visible (especially on the protruding ornamental parts), natural patina, and minor functional scratches. Micro-scratches caused by cleaning.
Contamination: In the recesses of the ornaments and inside the candle sleeves there are residues of old wax and deposits (professional cleaning required).
Summary:
Despite the listed defects, the candelabras present themselves very majestically. Thanks to the dense decorations, all imperfections vanish in the glow of reflected light, which makes them a beautiful decoration for a stylish table or fireplace.
