Description from the seller
Splendid walnut wood sculpture from the early 1900s representing the bust of Jesus. A highly important artisanal work. The details of the eyes, nose, mouth, and beard are carefully crafted. These details are sculpted perfectly; especially notable are the chin, cheekbones, and beard, which attest to the sculpture's significance. The head has long hair down to the back, with a crown of thorns. A delicate face depicting an important moment in Jesus' life.
The piece is particularly notable for its half-length form placed on a carved wooden capital with a round base from which rises a wide column that narrows at the center and above it a circle on which the sculpture is placed. The photos show the true beauty of the face and its particular features. An artisanal work in the central part with various carvings and, at the top, the crown of thorns. A craftsman’s work from another era, showing signs of time and proving that it is an antique object, especially when looking under the base and at the top you can notice its antiquity.
The sculpture is 22 cm tall and central width 12 cm.
A particular feature is the shape of the column on which Jesus rests. It was part of the furnishings of the chapel in the family palace.
A special object, hard to find on the market: wax or terracotta statues are common, but wooden sculptures are rare.
I found it together with all the furnishings of the family palace, and due to the large number of similar objects, I am selling many of them so they can have a new life instead of being kept locked away in a cabinet.
Beautiful to use in a bedroom or living room as a decorative item on a sideboard.
It harmonizes with classic antique or modern décor given its simplicity yet its beauty. Even though it is a sacred subject, it is still a sculpture.
For shipping I use private couriers rather than postal service so the object arrives sooner, has double packaging placed in a box, and communication is simpler. I follow the entire process until the buyer receives it.
Costs vary depending on the buyer's place of residence.
The costs in Europe are lower than the second tier, such as the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Eastern European countries, while tier three is more expensive, such as Norway, Malta, Cyprus, and then the rest of the world.
Customs duties are the buyer's responsibility.
