Porsche Master 409 408 from 1958 with a 3288 cc diesel engine, 50 hp, manual transmission, red exterior, matching chassis and engine numbers, and German registration papers (CoC on request).
Description from the seller
Thank you very much for your interest in our Porsche Diesel Master 409 408.
As connoisseurs have already noticed, this is the rarest Porsche specimen!, featuring the well-known 7-speed gearbox and the double seats arranged in tandem.
The 408 Master was actually intended for the American market, and a few were originally delivered in Europe. This is one of the rarest original European deliveries with hydraulics and lifting gear!
This Master is in very good condition. Built completely anew a few years ago and beautifully restored.
The 4-cylinder 50HP engine starts immediately and runs wonderfully. The engine has been fitted with numerous new parts, and recently (March 2024) the cylinder heads were resurfaced and pressure-tested. The engine is also smoke-free and oil-consumption free!
Steering gear completely rebuilt and also equipped with new high-quality components, making this Master steer with two fingers!
Complete with the rare wheel weights and the two original front weights.
Chassis and sheet metal have been sandblasted and repainted at an auto body shop in the original Porsche color.
New wiring, lighting, fuses and battery.
New seats, seat springs, and new fender seatings with cushions.
The 7 speeds shift perfectly without any rattles! Brakes work well, including the handbrake.
4 new tires.
Lifting gear, PTO shaft at front and rear works well.
But of course the main point is that this Porsche is matching numbers! engine and chassis numbers match.
The Porsche comes with complete German papers; we can help with and organize worldwide transport.
Top investment and only a few of the known ones still exist from the limited production.
Stored dry and warm in the collection after restoration and has occasionally attended small gatherings.

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
