Description from the seller
Multiple reliquary – St. Ursula, St. Germana, St. Elis., St. Brigid – 19th century – Flanders
Oval reliquary in metal (copper alloy), molded decorative, containing four relics identified by handwritten papers
• St. Ursula (probably Saint Ursula of Cologne, virgin and martyr)
• St. Germana (probably Saint Germana of Pibrac, virgin, †1601)
• St. Brigid (probably Saint Brigid, virgin and founder, without order indication)
• St. Elis. M.? (incomplete inscription; presumably Saint Elisabeth, but impossible to attribute with certainty)
The relics are arranged on a red background decorated with floral motifs in metal papercuts and cut petals, typical of convent workshop productions of the 19th century.
Presence of an original hanging ring with an old cord.
On the reverse, the reliquary is sealed by red threads and a dark wax seal, partially preserved.
The seal bears an ecclesiastical coat of arms, but too worn to be identified. Threads intact, reliquary not opened since sealing.
Good overall condition given the age and metal oxidation.
The photos are an integral part of the object description and complement its presentation. Please examine them carefully before any commitment.
The object will be carefully packed and shipped with a tracking number, to ensure fast and secure delivery.
Happy bidding
In accordance with canon law (c. 1190 §1), this sale concerns only the reliquary as a sacred art object. The relics it contains are not the object of the transaction, but are included gratuitously for their historical and cultural value.
